Event Description
Looking for an engaging and fun volunteer opportunity? Look no further! Join community volunteers, SF Parks Alliance (formerly SF Parks Trust and Neighborhood Parks Council), and the Recreation and Parks Department in creating butterfly habitat on Strawberry Hill in Golden Gate Park. On the second Saturday of every month, we meet to remove invasive weeds, put in California native plants species that butterflies need to survive and thrive, and to do trail work.
We meet at 10 AM at the Stow Lake Boat House. All instruction and needed tools are provided. Please wear closed toe shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty, and dress in layers as the weather may change quickly. Bring water and a sack lunch. The volunteer work day runs from 10 AM to 2 PM, and includes an educational talk during our lunch break. Guest speakers include ecologists, naturalists, and historians who share information about the natural and cultural history of Strawberry Hill.
